Non-Standard Departures

If an aircraft is unable to accept a SID, coordination with the relevant approach control unit is required and the agreed departure instructions should be passed to the aircraft.

Flights to Gatwick

Due to the proximity of Gatwick and its position, coordination with L (London Control) is required prior to issuing a clearance.

Start Clearance and Transfer to Tower

Start clearance should be provided once an aircraft reports ready and current conditions permit. It is best practice to include the stand number of the aircraft being given clearance for other aircrafts' situational awareness.

An aircraft may be positioned on a stand that requires pushback onto taxiway tango. This should be coordinated with tower with the aircraft told to hold position and start only.

Ground shall transfer aircraft to tower once they report ready for taxi (or pushback following engine start on a stand requiring pushback). An instruction to hold position should be included in the transfer instruction.
